After obtaining a bursary in January 1987 and completing his initial studies, Joubert started working for a large consulting firm during 1990.

His first seven years were spent on a fulltime basis on various construction sites where he gained and obtained valuable construction and contract related experience. He was tasked with site monitoring / site supervision duties and fulfilled all duties and responsibilities as Engineer’s Representative (ER).

Early 1997 Joubert returned to the design office and was tasked with the execution and completion of various designs, tender/contract documentation, contract management and contract administrative duties.

He started specialising in tender and construction contract documentation, contract management and contract administration related matters. He fulfilled the duties of Contract’s Engineer / Principal Agent / Employer’s Agent on numerous construction contracts.

In November 2009 and after more than 20 years with the firm Joubert joined another firm where he managed and completed various infrastructure projects, its designs, tender / contract documentation, contract management and contract administration.

In April 2013 he joined InConsult Engineers, a small hands-on consulting firm. At that stage, InConsult undertook and concentrated mostly on structural engineering projects. He launched an additional and complimentary unit within InConsult, primarily to concentrate on civil engineering infrastructure and ADR related services.

Joubert’s interest and disciplines include bulk and internal infrastructure and developmental services, i.e. roads, stormwater, water and sanitation projects. His speciality includes the procurement and adjudication of construction contracts, the compilation of construction contract documentation, contract management, contract administration, contractual claims, dispute resolution procedures, mediation, adjudication and arbitration.

In October 2017 he passed National Treasury’s (S)IPDM examination and became a NT verified (S)IPDM competent person.
Following his passion for the resolution of construction claims, disagreements and disputes, Joubert decided to direct more time and energy towards his ADR practise.

During 2017 Joubert completed the Association of Arbitrators’ (AoA SA) Certificate in Arbitration, during 2018 he completed the University of Pretoria’s Year Programme in Construction Adjudication and during 2019/2020 he completed the Association of Arbitrators’ (AoA SA) Fellowship in Arbitration. During 2021 he completed the Association of Arbitrators’ (AoA SA) Specialisation in Construction Law.
