Peter Ramsden is an Advocate of the High Court and a professional Civil Engineer.

Advocate Ramsden is the Author of The Law of Building and Engineering Contracts and Arbitration 6th and 7th editions, The Law of Arbitration 1st and 2nd editions, and A Guide to Intellectual Property Law all published by Juta Law.

He has completed courses on Negotiation of Financial Transactions and two Courses on Alternative Dispute Resolution through UNITAR (United Nations Institute of Training and Research); and has attended courses on GCC, JBCC, and NEC3 locally.

Peter Ramsden specialises in the contractual/legal and financial aspects of infrastructure projects and has consulted on projects in South Africa, Botswana, Tanzania (off-site), Lesotho, Namibia, Ethiopia and Uganda. His clients have included national government departments, public enterprises such as TCTA, Lesotho Highlands Water Commission, SANRAL, Eskom, municipalities and international funding agencies including World Bank, JICA, USAID, DANIDA, DFID, SIWI, ORASECOM and EU.

Currently serve on permanent DAB on two major +R1,6bn bridges;
Currently sole member of DAB of toll road system contract;
Currently negotiating protocol to infrastructure Treaty (Operations LHWP Ph II) and interpreting existing Treaty;
Various ad hoc construction law adjudications over past year. Currently three relating to a power station, two municipal;

One current arbitration regarding a building; Legal Counsel currently representing defendant in professional liability claims relating to a structure on behalf of insurance company.
