ADR experience:                                                                                                                                                              A member of a 3-member DAB tribunal on the SANRAL N3 realignment project at Hammarsdale.

As an attorney, I have been involved in numerous arbitrations and adjudications, at varying stages, representing both claimant and defendant. The disputes primarily related to payments owed,
legitimacy of payment certificates, jurisdiction, applicability of form of contract, and damages arising from defective work. These alternative dispute resolutions have related to contracts based on JBCC, GCC and FIDIC.

As a consulting engineer, I have been involved in numerous claims by contractors on site and applying the contract in order to make a ruling on these claims.

As an attorney, I have been intricately involved in the process of alternate dispute, from instituting
proceedings, applying adjudication/arbitration clauses, arguing jurisdiction, applying the relevant rules, and drafting papers.

Working knowledge of the standard forms of contract:                                                                      Throughout my career, I have had extensive experience with both JBCC and GCC, being the predominant forms of contract used within the South African built-environment industry. I have been exposed to these contracts from the perspective of a contractor, consultant, employer and attorney.
I do have a working knowledge of NEC3 and FIDIC.

Working knowledge of international and local practice, legislation and institutional guidelines on arbitration, adjudication, and amicable settlement:                                                                                             I have been involved in Arbitrations and Adjudications that incorporate AASA rules, JBCC Rules and FIDIC guidelines.

Working knowledge of construction law, rules of natural justice and law of procedure:                              I have worked extensively in contract and construction law as an attorney/candidate attorney over the last four years. During this period, I have been involved in civil litigation, from engagement with clients, drafting papers, compiling discovery affidavits, preparing witness statements and proceeding to trial. This experience includes numerous arbitrations and adjudications.
