Acted for the last 13 years as an Arbitrator, Adjudicator and Amicable Settlement Facilitator in various construction disputes related to all type of structures from a legal, contractual and technical perspective.
Hubert has a good reputation and integrity. He is an Honorary Fellow of the South African Institution of Civil Engineering (SAICE).
Hubert submits that he is fully and adequately qualified and capable to be an Amicable Settlement Facilitator, Adjudicator and Arbitrator in the construction field. He has acted has a Mediator/Amicable settlement Facilitator, Adjudicator and Arbitrator in various cases the last 13 years.
Hubert technical, legal and economic knowledge allows him to understand the diverse viewpoints and knowledge of disputes in the construction industry.
Hubert is according to an informal DISC personality profile a high C and S person with a high D under pressure. It means that he is accurate, careful, precise, systematic, logical and compliant.
Further he is also a determined, reliable, good listener, deliberate and dependable person. Under pressure, he is strong, a self-starter, initiator and alert when a stressful situation appears. It provides him also with the ability to execute tasks allocated to him and prepare on a timely basis the necessary reports responsive to the task at hand. This makes him valuable in any robust procedure to resolve disputes.
Hubert serves on the SAICE President’s list of Arbitrators, Adjudicators and Amicable Settlement Facilitators since 2009. He is also a Member of the Dispute Resolution Board Foundation (DRBF) since January 2014.
Hubert was a member of the National Adjudication team appointed by the Minister of Housing, now known as Human Settlements, for the Gavin Mbeki housing awards in 2008 and 2009.
Hubert was an advisor for the Joint Water Commission between the Republic of South Africa and the Kingdom of Swaziland for the appeal cases before the Commission regarding damage to private homesteads and other structures due to the construction of access roads of the Maguba Dam in Swaziland.
Hubert has served as an ordinary member of the Water Tribunal from September 2008 to September 2012. He chaired some of hearings and wrote several of the decisions of the Tribunal.
The Tribunal dealt with more than 200 cases during this term.
